Book Summary: Statistics plays an important role in genetics. Though the "basic" statistical theory behind modern genetics is not that difficult, most statistical genetics papers are not easy to read for a beginner. Formulae quickly becomes very tedious to fit a particular area of application. This book tries to distinguish between the necessary and unnecessary complexity in presenting the material to a statistician "or a data analyst". Derivations of methods are kept simple but without losing the mathematical details. This book also provides some necessary background in modern genetics for those who want to get into this area, from biologicaland molecular experiments to gene hunting to genetic engineering. |
