Biography:     Presently I am doing PhD (D. Pharm) in the laboratory of Biomembrane and Biofunctional Chemistry, Graduate School of Pharmaceutical Sciences, Hokkaido University (Japan)under the supervision of Dr. Yasuyuki Igarashi, PhD and Dr. Jin-ichi Inokuchi, PhD. My research projects involves the developement of Glycosphingolipid synthase related cDNA microarray to study the expression profile of different genes in the glycosphingolipid biosynthetic pathway in mouse and human cell lines and tissues. Studies have shown that glycosphingolipid synthase genes and their related genes are involved in different biological functions (cell signaling, cell adhesion, differention) as well as pathological conditions such as cancer, diabetes. Using other techniques, such as real-time PCR analysis, chromatographic analysis, Immunoblotting techniques, etc. I try to establish a correlation between the microarray data and biological data. My current research projects have grown an interest in Bioinformatics specially in glycobiology. Using various tools of bioinformatics, it is possible to understand the role of glycoconjugates, such as glycolipids and glycoproteins more profoundly. For this reason I am planing to undertake post-doctoral studies in a field that will help me use the bioinformatics tools more closely.
