ST. PAUL, Minn. -- Lawson Software's (Nasdaq:LWSN) Series 8 business applications are helping Jewish Hospital HealthCare Services (JHHS) improve enterprise-wide efficiency. A Lawson client since May 2000, JHHS completed its upgrade to Lawson Financials and Supply Chain Management for Healthcare suites on Sept. 30, 2004, followed by the Human Resources suite on Dec. 18, 2004. As part of the project, JHHS also installed Lawson ProcessFlow and Business Component Integrator. JHHS is a regional network of more than 60 health care facilities with more than 1,300 patient beds. The organization provides a complete array of health care services in Kentucky and southern Indiana including: hospitals, emergency air ambulance, assisted living, home health care, outpatient care, nursing home care, occupational health and rehab medicine. JHHS employs more than 7,900 people.
"Using a platform where financial, HR, procurement and distribution systems work together helps us manage information more efficiently than ever before," said Dave Pecoraro, CIO, JHHS. "The Lawson system allows our employees to spend less time on manual administrative duties and more time pursuing initiatives related to patient care."
The upgraded Lawson system provides advanced functionality for tracking spending, streamlining purchasing processes and creating detailed financial reports. JHHS's use of the Supply Chain Management Suite has been enhanced to ensure timely notification of critical purchasing processes, a more streamlined flow of information through the network, and greater visibility into contract compliance and vendor performance. The upgraded Financials Suite allows for improved posting of data to General Ledger and helps JHHS more efficiently capture, analyze and report transactional information. The Lawson applications enable JHHS to more efficiently match invoices and pay vendors, automate and centralize purchasing and more easily track financial data by facility.
JHHS expects the new Human Resources system, with its Self-Service capabilities, will enable the organization to reinvent the way it administers HR functions. For example, JHHS plans to transition to a paperless HR environment and increase staff productivity by shortening payroll-processing time from two days to one.
To ensure maximum benefits from the integrated Lawson suites, Lawson ProcessFlow allows JHHS to automate everyday processes, eliminating manual steps and driving down costs. For example, ProcessFlow can help JHHS identify bottlenecks in the approval process. The organization can then use those insights to reengineer the process and achieve faster, timelier throughput.
"Lawson technology supports Jewish Hospital's efforts to streamline business processes and adopt best practices so more time and resources are available for patient care," said Brad Callahan, executive vice president, Professional Services, Lawson Software. "Our outcome-driven approach to implementation services means that our clients' reaching their defined outcome is our top measure of success. We're delighted to help Jewish Hospital put time on their side."
