Success of Flagship EHR Prompts PMSI Name Change to Practice Partner

With 1,500 physician practice clients, Physician Micro Systems, Inc. (PMSI) is making a bold move to change names and leverage the popularity of its Practice Partner electronic health record (EHR) brand
SEATTLE -- Sales momentum for Practice Partner EHR and practice management software has made the name familiar to thousands of doctors across the country and prompted Physician Micro Systems, Inc. (PMSI) to update its corporate identity to complement the broadly recognized flagship product. Over the past eighteen years, Practice Partner has built a presence in more than 1,500 practices of all sizes and specialties, from solo-practitioner offices to large enterprises and multi-site clinics. Winner of such distinctions as '2004 and 2005 TEPR Best EHR,' and '2005 AC Group Best EMR', Practice Partner continues to focus on its mission of helping practices increase productivity and improve quality of care.

"When I travel to conferences and industry gatherings, the name people always know is Practice Partner -- so it seems logical to change our name to make the most of this recognition," said Dr. Andrew G. Ury, CEO of PMSI. "Our core business of electronic health records and practice management software isn't changing -- the only difference is that now more people will realize they have heard of us!"

In the emerging EHR market, the clear winners are experienced vendors with broad, established client bases. Founded in 1983, and with thousands of clinical users, Practice Partner continues to incorporate leading-edge technologies into its electronic health records and practice management software.

"Our clients are very engaged in the success of our company. What matters most to them is that we continue our industry leadership roles and fulfill our development and service commitments," stated Dr. Ury, whose healthcare contributions include a seat on the Certification Commission for Health Information Technology and vice-chairmanship of the HIMSS Electronic Health Record Vendors Association.

In addition to a new name, a new logo will represent the company and the Practice Partner suite of clinical and administrative tools, including the EHR, a sophisticated multi-clinic scheduler, and a comprehensive practice management system. The company intends to continue in its stride of technological leadership and vision, financial and operational prudence, and steady growth -- all ensuring long-term support for its customers.
