SAN DIEGO -- From the floor of the 2006 HIMSS (Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society) Annual Conference and Exhibition, Allscripts (Nasdaq:MDRX), the leading provider of clinical software, connectivity and information solutions that physicians use to improve healthcare, today announced that the TouchWorks(TM) Electronic Health Record has been selected by the Microsoft Healthcare Users Group (MS-HUG) as 'Best in Class' for Ambulatory Care.
The ninth annual MS-HUG Awards showcase the most innovative solutions and customers of Microsoft(R) technology in the healthcare industry. Judging is performed by a select group of members from the Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, who review systems including electronic health records, electronic medical records, digital image management, and home health.

In addition to Allscripts receiving a 'Best in Class' Award, TouchWorks user, Ryan Bosch, MD, of George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates was named as a finalist for the 'Microsoft Clinician of the Year'. This is the fourth consecutive year a TouchWorks user was named as a finalist.
Additionally, George Washington University Medical Faculty Associates (MFA) received the prestigious HIMSS 'Article of the Year' Award. 'Rapid Implementation of an Electronic Health Record in an Academic Setting' was published in the Journal of Healthcare Information Management in 2005. The 'Article of the Year' Award recognizes a research paper or case study from the year that provided the greatest insight for information and management systems professionals. The peer-reviewed article documents MFA's rapid electronic health record implementation, bringing 100 physicians live on the Allscripts solution in just 28 days and projects a savings of more than $10 million in the first five years of using the system.
