WAYNE, Pa. -- MEDecision Inc., the leader in collaborative care management, today announced outstanding growth in 2005 in new customer contracts, enhancements to its suite of Integrated Medical Management (IMM) software, and increased penetration of the health and medical management market.
Last year, 20 new contracts were signed, more than in any single year since the company's inception in 1988, and revenues increased 41 percent over 2004. The aggressive acquisition of new business was matched by the re-licensing of a significant number of existing clients, demonstrating the company's ability to generate additional business based on expanding long-standing client relationships.
"MEDecision's delivery of Integrated Medical Management in 2005 has gained tremendous traction in the market," said John H. Capobianco, president and chief marketing officer of MEDecision. "With increased momentum from our new OptiCarePath and Patient Clinical Summary offerings and our market expansion to serve traditional Managed Care Organizations and new Regional Health Information Organizations, we expect continued success through 2006."
In December, MEDecision hired its 198th employee, increasing staff size 25 percent compared to the year before. An addition of 14,000 square feet of space at the MEDecision campus accommodated staff expansion in 2005, with plans of further space acquisitions and new employees throughout 2006.
In a first for the healthcare industry, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas (BCBSTX) and MEDecision developed electronic Patient Clinical Summaries for BCBSTX health plan members displaced by Hurricane Rita, so that doctors treating the evacuees had access to up-to-date treatment information and were able to give the most appropriate care.
MEDecision Founder and CEO David St.Clair was invited to testify in September on the use of information technology to improve healthcare at a hearing conducted by the Subcommittee on Federal Workforce and Agency Organization of the US House of Representatives. St.Clair urged the Subcommittee to support deployment by the Federal Employee Health Benefit Plan of an electronic medical record dissemination program for its 8 1/2 million government employee members.
In 2006, MEDecision will continue to focus on delivering collaborative care management solutions, both on its own and through its CollaboraCare Consortium, which now includes 15 member vendors that address information deficiencies in health care delivery. The company's extensive experience in the development of enhanced payer-based health records and patient clinical summaries will help Managed Care Organizations and new emerging RHIOs provide the much needed clinical data exchange information at the point of care for their provider networks and members, resulting in reduced errors, enhanced treatment opportunities, improved outcomes and more affordable healthcare for all.
