InterSystems and Wolters Kluwer Health Announce Technology Partnership

Leading Multinational Healthcare Content Publisher To Support InterSystems' High Performance CACHE Post-Relational Database
SAN DIEGO -- InterSystems Corporation and Wolters Kluwer Health (WKHealth) today announced they are joining forces to deliver healthcare content on InterSystem's high performance CACHE database platform. The formation of the technology partnership was announced at HIMSS 2006 in San Diego, Calif.

The leading database provider in healthcare, InterSystems develops and markets the CACHE post-relational database and Ensemble universal integration platform. Wolters Kluwer Health is a global leader in information services for health and medical professionals.

Speeding Up Healthcare Information Delivery

"The increasing focus on disciplines such as physician order entry and evidence-based medicine is driving demand from healthcare professionals for faster data access," said Alan Hess, Vice President and General Manager of the WKHealth Clinical Tools business unit. "We are excited about our partnership with InterSystems. They are a dynamic force in the healthcare industry and together we can offer compelling workflow-integrated solutions."

"CACHE has a proven track record of providing the rapid response needed in this healthcare environment," said Tom Godden, Vice President of Technology with WKHealth. "It's an optimal database platform for delivering the massive volumes of clinical, pharmaceutical, best practices and other healthcare information offered by Wolters Kluwer Health."

"InterSystems appreciates the opportunity to team with the leading healthcare content provider in delivering information products on the CACHE database," said Paul Grabscheid, InterSystems Vice President of Strategic Planning. "Today's providers are focused on applying the best information possible at the point of patient care. The key is to deliver the right information without slowing down the delivery of care, and instantaneous database performance, even for complex clinical queries, is an essential element of delivering on that promise. The ability to provide WKHealth's top-tier healthcare content on the high performance CACHE database makes it possible to address the growing need for more healthcare information faster than ever before."

Reston, Va.-based QuadraMed Corporation is the first healthcare software firm that will benefit from the partnership between InterSystems and WKHealth. QuadraMed offers integrated access, revenue cycle, care management and health information management solutions for hospitals nationwide. "QuadraMed incorporates Wolters Kluwer Health's Medi-Span clinical decision support and pharmaceutical content into our products. Its expert content enhances the ability of our customer base of healthcare providers to deliver the highest quality healthcare," observed QuadraMed's CTO Jim Klein. "And, CACHE is recognized for the ability to enable the immediate response our customers are looking for. We're extremely pleased about this partnership. It's a win for both companies as well as for their customers," he said.
