ST. PAUL, Minn. -- A growing number of healthcare organizations are selecting application suites from Lawson Software (Nasdaq:LWSN) to replace their aging packaged business applications.
"When we found out our legacy ERP system was nearing the end of its lifecycle, we wanted to transition to a vendor that offers a consolidated business system that improves strategic decision-making," said Mike Zegar, chief information officer, Newton Memorial Hospital. "With Lawson, our executives can easily drill into transactional details and quickly review and run reports on organization-wide data. We also sought a system that would grow with us, and Lawson gave us the confidence it will be a strong, long-term partner."
In addition to Newton Memorial Hospital, Altoona Regional Health System, Bethesda Memorial Hospital, Crouse Hospital, The Chester County Hospital and Tufts-New England Medical Center are just some of the healthcare organizations that signed on with Lawson in Lawson's first six months of fiscal 2006.
The healthcare providers are replacing their end-of-life business applications with Lawson's enterprise business applications to automate and standardize certain business processes, such as benefits administration, materials management and financial reporting. The unified applications also will help them improve their margins by optimizing scarce resources so they can focus on their mission of delivering high-quality patient care.
"Many healthcare providers are facing the prospect of replacing legacy business systems as vendors of these applications announce their intent to discontinue support and maintenance," said Stacey Hicks, industry marketing director - Healthcare, Lawson Software. "As these organizations review their business requirements and engage in vendor selection processes, we've seen an increasing number of them move to Lawson. We attribute this momentum to our unsurpassed healthcare expertise, comprehensive product offering and our proven ability to transition customers from their legacy applications to Lawson."
Lawson serves more than 500 healthcare industry clients representing more than 4,500 facilities, including eight of the top 10 integrated delivery networks. The company also serves managed care systems, academic medical centers, hospitals, clinics, physician group practices, home healthcare firms, long-term care services and other health services enterprises. Lawson solutions help healthcare organizations manage their business so they can focus on their patients, automate and streamline materials management for a better bottom line and overcome the challenges of labor shortages.
