SAN MATEO, Calif. -- AeroScout, Inc., a pioneer in the field of Enterprise Visibility Solutions, today announced that Reading Hospital (Reading, PA), and Catholic Medical Center - KangNam St. Mary's Hospital (Seoul, Korea) each selected the AeroScout location-based solution to help accurately locate and optimize the use of their medical equipment assets for improved patient care, greater efficiency and lower costs. The AeroScout Wi-Fi-based Active RFID solution is integrated with the Cisco 2700 Series Wireless Location Appliance and together they provide powerful asset management, reporting and visualization capabilities to customers in healthcare as well as many other different industries.
Both hospitals chose the AeroScout Wi-Fi-based Active RFID solution for its comprehensive feature-set, reliability and seamless integration with their Cisco Wi-Fi network infrastructure. With AeroScout long-life active RFID tags and AeroScout MobileView software integrated with the Cisco 2700 Series Wireless Location Appliance -- a key component of the Cisco Clinical Connection Suite -- the location of any medical equipment, asset or person can be tracked in real-time. This valuable information can be easily accessed from a Web-based tool by hospital staff to improve operations and quality of service.
AeroScout MobileView also includes a comprehensive alert system which helps customers send automatic messages to hospital staff via email, phone, Web services and other methods to communicate changes in status, low asset utilization and long dwell times, among several other events.
Reading Hospital, in Reading, PA, has begun tracking infusion pumps using the AeroScout and Cisco location solution with integration services from InfoLogix. The hospital expects to benefit from increased utilization of pumps and reduced asset loss, resulting in significant annual savings in capital equipment costs.
By providing tight integration with Cisco, AeroScout enables customers to use their existing Cisco Wi-Fi network and Cisco 2700 Series Wireless Location Appliance to facilitate the development of new and important business applications that help improve asset utilization and streamline business processes.
"We expect the introduction of the AeroScout solution and MobileView's automated business process alerting tools to greatly reduce perennial difficulties with traffic congestion, check-up room confusion, and business efficiency," said Seong-Sun Cha, Team Manager of Development Information Service Team, Catholic Medical Center - KangNam St. Mary's Hospital, an 850-bed hospital in Seoul, Korea. "Because the system uses the Cisco Wi-Fi infrastructure, the installation and upkeep costs are much lower than proprietary RFID systems."
The installation will include a complete Cisco wireless network and AeroScout software and tags, and will be completed by AeroScout partner Choongwae Information Technology.
"AeroScout is a key partner in Cisco's Clinical Connection Suite solution. Hospitals can now address the common and costly problem of hospital equipment tracking in a simple and effective manner," said Kent Gray, global lead for Cisco's Healthcare Solutions. "We share AeroScout's belief that wireless active RFID technology can help our healthcare customers today improve patient care while positively impacting the bottom line."
These customers mark AeroScout's strong growth as a leader in visibility solutions for hospitals. The company also recently announced several partnerships for the healthcare industry, including Emergin and InfoLogix.
"Many hospitals now recognize the importance of asset tracking for solving operational, safety and revenue issues," said Gabi Daniely, VP of Marketing, AeroScout. "The joint Cisco and AeroScout solution is a perfect fit for the healthcare market, effectively addressing the many visibility needs of hospitals by providing a broad set of capabilities and best-of-breed products."
