The Johns Hopkins Hospital and Transplant Software Maker TeleResults Reach Major Milestone |
| One Year After Deployment of State-of-the-Art EMR Solution, Leading Transplant Center Reports Dramatic Return on Investment. |
San Francisco, CA -- TeleResults, a market leader in the design and development of electronic medical record (EMR) solutions for transplant-related care, today announced that the Comprehensive Transplant Center at the Johns Hopkins Hospital has approached a key milestone. The rapidly-growing center, which performs over 300 transplants each year, has marked the one year anniversary of its deployment of the TeleResults TX solution.
TeleResults TX is a robust, feature-rich technology application that enables transplant clinics to more effectively track patient information throughout the various stages of transplantation. From referral, diagnosis, and treatment, through post-transp lant care and follow up, TeleResults can help eliminate cumbersome manual administrative activities, so medical providers can reduce operating expenses, improve efficiency, and allow their staff to focus their efforts on providing the most effective car e possible.
"We had spent close to ten years using another technology application that provided little value to our organization," said Bryan Barshick, Decision Support/Transplant Manager at the Johns Hopkins Hospital. "Then, in June of 2006, after researching and evaluating the solution for quite some time, we implemented TeleResults TX. Our abdominal transplant team has been using it successfully ever since."
Initial expectations were quite high. Transplantation is a very data-laden science, and the center was relying on TeleResults TX to: •Increase productivity by replacing cumbersome paper-based activities such as filing and retrieving hard-copy documents and charts, with streamlined, efficient electronic procedures. •Create a more unified approach to patient care by improving the way clinical teams communicate and share information. •Facilitate regulatory compliance by organizing and simplifying related support processes.
"TeleResults TX has exceeded every goal we set," Barshick added. "It has completely transformed the way we collect, access, track, and review important information about our transplant patients. Because we've been able to deploy a single, fully-centralized system, we've streamlined all of our key transplant-related procedures from initial contact through long-term follow-up, and effectively coordinated activities among the many different groups of clinicians involved in our transplants. Additionally, it has helped us to better understand our patients, and utilize information about their treatment to deliver a higher quality of care."
The benefits have been so significant, and the response from end users has been so enthusiastic, that the Johns Hopkins Hospital plans to expand its use of TeleResults TX in the near future. The Thoracic transplant team will "go live" with th e solution sometime in the Fall, while the Ventricular Assist Device (VAD) team is next in line to deploy the powerful application.
"Working with TeleResults has been a terrific experience," concluded Barshick. "Not only has their solution delivered amazing value to our organization, but they've provided us with phenomenal support, working closely with us to ens ure that all our needs were addressed. We look forward to continued work with such a reliable partner."
