Cogi Systems Introduces Electronic Reminder System for Medication and Healthcare |
| Cogi Systems developed eMinder - an electronic reminder system for medication and care management needs. |
MINNETONKA, Minn. -- Sometimes it's hard to remember how or when to take prescribed medications. As a result, an estimated 20 to 50 percent of patients do not take medications as prescribed and are non-adherent or non -compliant with therapy*, which can lead to potentially dangerous and costly situations for many of them. To help patients remember to take their prescription medication properly, Cogi Systems developed eMinder - an electronic reminder system for medic ation and care management needs.
eMinder is a computer generated Simple Message Service (SMS) that delivers a text message to the patient's mobile phone. Each text message reminds patients to take their medication on a schedule determined by themselves and their doctor or pharmac ist. The messaging sent from eMinder helps patients develop a pattern or habit, resulting in proper use of prescribed medications. eMinder also serves as a reminder for appointments and other notification needs that support patient wellness.
Reliable and easy-to-use, eMinder SMS delivers reminder messages wherever telecommunication reception is available. Service is available for a variety of mobile phones and Blackberry style devices, and is proprietary so patients receive no solicitation s for other products or services.
eMinder messages are provided free** to patients by participating provider organizations and, as a result, patients can achieve a lower hospitalization rate and enhanced quality of life. Consequently, providers (including retail pharmacies, insurers, he althcare facilities and physicians) are able to increase patient compliance, deliver a value-added service that generates customer loyalty, potentially increase sales of other store merchandise and support their goal to provide economically sustainable healthcare.
