Washington, DC -- ConsentSolutions has been awarded the "Best Technological Development in Planning and Education Tools in Clinical Trials" by the GCPj Awards. The award recognized ConsentSolutions' online, informed consent product for clinical trials - SecureConsent. This award category recognizes the growing importance of use of emerging technology in clinical trials and recognizes those firms that have launched new technology for trial planning and cand idate education within the past year.
In receiving the award, Ann McFarren, ConsentSolutions' Vice President for Operations, shared with those attending the award ceremony in London, UK " ConsentSolutions is proud to be among the first honorees for the GCPj award for its innovativ e product, Secure Consent. We know that the SecureConsent solution for informed consent will have a positive impact on trial candidates' understanding of their participation in a trial and give sponsors and trial staff the tools they need to be mor e effective. To us, the award recognizes the growing realization that this critical part of the trial process needs to be addressed."
ConsentSolutions' award winning consent application, SecureConsent™, was launched in June 2006. This innovative multimedia web approach to informed consent allows trial candidates to review consent materials at their own pace, from home, thei r physician's office, or a trial site. Studies indicate that multimedia-enhanced informed consent increases enrollment by 50%, increases participant retention by 35%, increases subject understanding by 40%, and requires significantly less researche r time per enrolled subject. ConsentSolutions' President and CEO, Susan Brink, Dr.PH, notes that "… adult volunteers found SecureConsents' computer-based format to be more comprehensible and accessible than the same trial consent in formation in paper format. The study subjects also found the additional educational materials and interactive decision tools to be advantages of the computer-based format."
