C. Peter Waegemann, Health IT Leader, Cited as One of “Top 20 People Who Make Healthcare Better” |
| C. Peter Waegemann, Health IT Leader and EMR Advocate, was cited among the “20 People That Make Healthcare Better” in HealthLeaders Media’s annual listing. |
Boston, MA -– HealthLeaders Media magazine asked its editors: “Who is finding innovative solutions to healthcare's myriad problems? Who is showing courage in the face of daunting challenges? In short, who is genuinely making a difference in healthcare?” Their selection offers a snapshot of people from multiple sectors who have made healthcare better in ways both large and small.
C. Peter Waegemann is among their choices of the "Top 20 People Who Make Healthcare Better". He is one of just two health IT leaders among the designees, who also include physicians, politicians, advocates, and members of the media working to make proactive changes in the current and future state of healthcare.
Waegemann is the CEO of Medical Records Institute, a Boston-based company that promotes the journey towards electronic medical records, e-health, mobile health, and related applications of information technologies. Founded in the early 1980s, MRI has been a pioneering organization in its field, serving as an international forum for sharing knowledge, experience, and solutions with the healthcare community. Waegemann has spent more than 20 years creating healthcare IT standards and chairing national and international standards organizations. He is a much sought-after visionary and keynote speaker and has published three books and over 150 articles in national and international medical publications.
In 1985, Waegemann founded the TEPR (Towards the Electronic Patient Record) conference, MRI’s most well known event. Now it it’s 24th year, this international health IT conference is widely recognized as the best EMR event both because of its comprehensive educational program and its practical approach to the promotion of electronic medical records (EMRs). “We take a ‘nuts and bolts approach to understanding EMRs – their costs, their functions, and their usability,” said Waegemann, “and so have designed TEPR as a one-stop-shop for EMR education, selection, and evolution.”
For nearly three decades Waegemann has been committed to the progression of EMRs – a continued commitment that distinguishes him from other health IT leaders. He is the most sought after speaker on electronic records, e-health, and mobile health and has received multiple awards for his contributions to e-health standardization.
