PARIS -- Spacelabs Healthcare, a pioneer in patient monitoring, has been selected by L'Union des Groupements d'Achats Publics (UGAP), the French Public Purchasing Authority, as one of only three global companies approved for the sale of patient monitoring products through UGAP to public institutions, including university and general hospitals as well as specialized health centers. UGAP is a public and commercial company placed under the authority of both the Ministry of Economy, Finance and Industry and the Ministry of Youth, National Education, Teaching and Research to facilitate purchases by participating institutions. Customers purchasing through UGAP include about 1,400 institutions.
This is the first year that UGAP has chosen Spacelabs Healthcare to participate in their offerings. The selection is made more significant by the fact that UGAP narrowed the field from four monitoring companies to a total of three for the 2008-2011 contract period. The three-year contract, effective immediately, designates Spacelabs Healthcare as the supplier for neonatal/pediatric products. Other product sector s in UGAP's offering are emergency, anesthesia, cardiology and intensive care.
Gary Grenter, Group President, Europe/Middle East/Africa (EMEA), welcomed the announcement: "This is an important milestone for Spacelabs Healthcare. We are pleased to be one of three companies selected to participate in the UGAP offering, a testament to our growing presence in France and our strong relationships with customers. I salute Jean-Michel Motyka, Directeur Général of Spacelabs Healthcare SAS, and his team for this achievement. The real winners are hospitals and their patients, who will now have greater access to Spacelabs Healthcare's innovative global monitoring solutions and services, giving healthcare professionals more time to care."
Spacelabs Healthcare's offering includes its full line of intuitive patient monitors to meet the hospitals' needs for fast, flexible access to patient information. The Ultraview SL monitors (SL 2200, SL2400, SL2600, SL2700, SL2800, SL3800) and mCare 300 monitor deliver scalable, portable, wireless solutions for all care areas and acuities. The offering also includes Spacelabs Healthcare's ICS G2 and iMDsoft's MetaVision Suite, which together collect, store and integrate real-time patient information from Spacelabs monitors and external devices, providing bedside access to comprehensive patient information and speeding decision-making.
