Spring Medical Systems Continues Sales Growth; Again Raises the Bar for Electronic Health Records for Small-to-Medium Sized Medical Practices

Company Grows Revenue, Adds Customers and Creates Key Industry Partnerships
HOUSTON, TX -- Spring Medical Systems, a leading provider of electronic health records (EHRs) for small- and medium-sized medical practices, today announced continued strong demand for its SpringCharts® solutions and continued revenue growth. Spring Medical Systems reported that year-to-date sales increased over 2007 including new customers, maintenance agreements, upgrades and implementations of the Company's SpringLabs product.

"Spring Medical Systems continues to push the envelope in EHR technology for small- and medium-sized practices," said Jack Smyth, president and CEO of Spring Medical Systems. "Our growth during challenging economic times reflects that our approach of providing the best technology available at the most affordable price is what the market demands and requires."

Partnerships

From January through May alone, Spring Medical Systems implemented four new SpringLabs partners including Acculabs, Pathology Inc., Parma General Hospital and Stanford Medical Center. With these four, the total number of supported diagnostic labs is now up to 27.

In May, Spring Medical Systems announced a partnership with DrFirst to provide comprehensive e-prescribing functionality to practices using the company's SpringCharts EHR system. The fully integrated e-prescribing solution enables customers to improve prescribing safety and medical practice efficiency. With the integration of DrFirst's award-winning e-prescribing technology, SpringCharts users will now be able to easily and securely submit electronic prescriptions to any retail or mail-order pharmacy while accessing comprehensive clinical information for each patient. The new solution will be available for a variety of computing platforms including Windows, Mac and many mobile devices including the Apple iPhone.

Spring Medical Systems also implemented integration partnerships with at least three leading Practice Management vendors including MacPractice, Nuesoft and GBA. Each of these partnerships includes the joint development of a HL7 compliant interface between Spring Medical Systems' SpringCharts EHR and the partner company's practice management system (PMS). These interfaces provide seamless data integration between the clinical (EHR) and financial (PMS) systems in a medical office. This enables better data consistency within the practice and dramatically reduces redundant data entry and errors.

Sales Momentum

Spring Medical Systems continues to experience sales growth among its core constituency of small- and medium-sized medical practices, and finished the first half of 2008 with higher revenue across all product lines. In addition, industry veteran Don Jaspers, with over 20 years of experience at Misys, joined the Spring Medical Team as VP of sales and business development.

Thought Leadership

The recently released McGraw-Hill EHR textbook featuring SpringCharts is flying off the shelves with nearly 5,000 sold to 39 community colleges and trade schools in 23 states. "Electronic Health Records," written by Byron Hamilton of the Med-Soft National Training Institute, provides an in-depth look at the implementation and usage of EHRs. The book is now in its third printing and according to McGraw-Hill, is on pace to be one of the most successful textbooks in its history.
