New technologies are constantly being developed as people strive to find ways to improve efficiency and increase productivity. Many of the new technologies will die an quick and early death, but some will continue to grow as they begin to show promises of having a significant impact on how people work.


These technologies are known as emerging technologies as they have not been fully implemented with other established Information Technology implementations. This may vary across the board for different sectors, especially in healthcare which is rather unique in the way it adopts technology. In the United Kingdom, NEAT (New and Emerging Applications of Technology) is a programme funded by the National Health Service (NHS) to look at new and emerging technologies that would have an impact on healthcare.
